10 Motivating Songs to Add to Your Workout Playlist


It’s a new year with new goals to made and new records to set.  With all the new workout clothes and gym gear galore, I bet you’re feeling pumped and ready to go with the exception of one thing.  

Can you take a guess of what it is? Okay fine, I’ll tell you….a new playlist! 

I don’t know about you but I tend to stick to the same few mixes.  The songs on them have helped push me through tough runs and trying races but with a new year comes new challenges so a new music mix should come along with it.  

10 Motivational Songs to Add to Your Playlist in 2017

The thing about music is that everyone likes something different.  I have friends that run to 80’s hair band music, friends that prefer pop and then there’s me who will run to everything from hardcore rap to Mumford and Sons.  

So, when I went to compile a list of motivating songs to add to my “2017 Kick Butt and Take Names” playlist, I decided to poll my running club to see what songs inspire them to push through when the going gets tough. 

We’ve complied a list of the most motivating songs that we could think of and while they might all be different genres, the beats are all similar and the messages of each make you wanna get up, lace up and workout!

I used to listen to music all the time when I ran. Now I'm lucky if I get to at all! But I definitely need some new tunes to listen to now that I'll likely be on the treadmill more.

This is an interesting mix of songs. I'm not sure I'm familiar with many of them. I usually put on Pandora. I do have a very special pre-race pump list that includes Katy Perry's "Rise". LOVE love that song!

This is such a solid list! All of these songs definitely make me feel like kicking butt and taking names! I think Cage the Elephant is my favorite out of all of these, though ... LOVE it for running!
