About Time Silver Dollar Chocolate Chip Protein Pancakes


Happy Meatless Monday! Who wants some chocolate chip cookies to start the day? Okay, they’re not actually cookies, they are pancakes but I promise they taste just like chocolate chip cookies plus they are packed with 21 grams of protein and they’re gluten free!

While About Time has been making a variety of super clean protein supplements and meal replacement bars for quite some time, they just recently released a brand new line of protein pancake mixes that are not only gluten free but quite delicious!

I was lucky enough to be sent a 1.5 lb container to try but I have to admit, I was a bit nervous. See, I am really not the best pancake maker on the planet. Despite my creativity in the kitchen, I have always failed to perfect the art of pancake making.

After finally reading the directions on the tub of About Time mix and seeing that you simply just need to add 1/2 cup to dry batter to a 1/2 cup of cold water, stir, heat the griddle, cook and flip…I felt a little more confident that it was something I could handle.

I actually felt so confident that I opted to make 10 silver dollar pancakes with the 70 gram pancake mix instead of the 2 six-inch pancakes it usually makes. I was rather please with my results!

Mmmm…just look at those cookies…I mean pancakes, topped and dripping with raw almond butter and more choco chips chock-full of 21 grams of protein and 6 grams of fiber. Really, they are the perfect way to start your day!

Oh and did I mention that they also come in Cinnamon Spice?! Some one hook a girl up! They sound pretty amazing especially topped with some vanilla coconut butter…YUM!

I received all three of the flavors to try; Chocolate Brownie, Island Coconut and Pecan Pie and brought them on a recent road trip with me. What I love about them is that they are sweetened with just dates made with only 6 natural ingredients plus since the protein comes from egg whites, they are Paleo, dairy and gluten free!

If I had to pick a favorite, it would probably either be the Pecan Pie or the Chocolate Brownie though they are all pretty tasty and perfect for either a meal replacement or post workout snack!

It should be noted that while the Fruit, Nut & Protein Bars are dairy free, the pancake mix is made with whey protein, that being said, About Time does offer a variety of other products that are dairy free and vegan.
