Big Slice Apple Review + Giveaway!

Big Slice Apple

I was recently given the opportunity to try out Big Slice kettle cooked apples. The authentic heritage recipes were recreated in the Midwest by a grandson looking to recreate his grandmother’s big sliced apples then eventually put into portioned pouches to make enjoying them easy and simple.

Each pouch is packed with good for you ingredients and features such as:

  • Non GMO (except Pineapple Passion Fruit)
  • Naturally gluten free
  • Shelf stable
  • Most under 100 calories
  • No high fructose corn syrup

Big Slice Apples The kettle cooked apples also come in 16 flavors in 3 collections: pure, fit and luxe.

Pure flavors: Natural, Orange Ginger, Apricot, Blueberry Pomegranate, Lemon Berry, Chai and Cherry Vanilla.

Fit flavors: Banana Mango & Hemp Seed, Peach Green Tea & Aloe, Pineapple Passion Fruit and Fiber, and Raspberry Hibiscus & Green Coffee Extract.

Luxe flavors: Peach Bellini, Cinnamon Candy, Boysenberry Chocolate, Cinnamon French Toast, and Caramel.

I was sent an 8 pack variety of flavors to try and I have to be honest, when they arrived I was a bit concerned I wouldn’t like them.  Prior to opening the package, it felt more like apple sauce than apple chunks and reminded me a little of the baby food pouches that I would use to feed my kids when we were out and about.

That all changed though when I opened the first pouch, Boysenberry Chocolate, and was more than pleased to find that not only were they actual chunks of apples but they were fantastically delicious.  Big Slice Apples

I have honestly never tasted anything quite so decadent out of a pouch before and have to agree that it is very fitting they are part of the luxe collection.  I felt like I was enjoying a dessert at a high end restaurant and can only imagine if I had actually combined them with chocolate of some sort. Big Slice Apples

My daughter also tried the Pineapple Passion Fruit & Fiber right out of the package and nearly licked the inside clean. I have mentioned before that this kid just doesn’t eat and she literally enjoyed it until the very last bite which made me a very happy mama. Big Slice Apples

Aside from being eaten straight out of the pouch, they also make great toppings for food like salads, waffles, yogurt  and oatmeal.  I chose to enjoy the Cinnamon French Toast on top of oatmeal with unsweetened almond milk and it was literally to die for. I was actually expecting it to just taste more like cinnamon apples but it honestly tasted just like French toast, it was really quite impressive.

Another really impressive thing about Big Slice is that when you purchase a pouch, a portion is donated to The Sparkle! Foundation which is given to charities that focus on helping women and girls in times of need. Pretty cool, right?

I haven't heard of these before, but they look like a great way to get kids to eat more fruit.

I think they just launched in January of last year but I do know that they are sold in select Target locations in the US. They are definitely a great way to get kids to eat more fruit...I couldn't believe how quick my daughter devoured them!

I've never had fried apples but I can imagine they taste similar. The flavors these are infused with are out of this world!

They really are perfect for the kiddos though I would encourage eating them at the table as there is some sauce in the package that I can totally see getting all over a pretty white rug :P
