I LOVE smoothies.  Like, seriously and truly, really love them.  I actually make a smoothie every day and usually have it post workout or as a late breakfast.  I love playing with flavor combos too and seeing what works and what tastes good all while trying to keep it nutritious and healthy.  So when I was asked to team up with Puritan’s Pride the next three months to feature seasonal smoothies obviously my answer was a big fat YES! Puritan's Pride Seasonal Smoothie

For those of you that don’t know, Puritan’s Pride, which began over 40 years ago, operates with the mission of making the finest quality nutritional supplements available at the best value.  They only use ingredients from suppliers that meet their Quality Assurance Standards as well as Good Manufacturing Practices food quality standards.

To kick off the three month campaign, I was send a box full of goodies that included these fantastic products to get me started. Puritan's Pride October Giveaway

Barney Butter Bare Almond Butter Smooth: Peanut free and made in an almond only facility! It contains no added salt or sugar with a traditional smooth and creamy texture.Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Superfood Smoothie Giveaway

For the month of October I felt it was only appropriate to make a pumpkin smoothie! Pumpkins have ton of health benefits that you may not know about.  They are chock full of vitamin A which boosts immunity and aids in eye health.  They are also high in potassium which is great for refueling after a hard workout and they’re high in fiber! The pumpkin seeds even boast a variety of health benefits and can reduce cholesterol and even boost your mood! Woohoo! 😀

Even though pumpkin is a superfood by itself, I took this smoothie to the next level by adding cacao powder, the superior greens- which taste pretty awesome by the way, protein powder and my secret ingredient; pumpkin. spice. tea.  Heck yeah! (How many grammar felonies did I commit in that sentence? Don’t know.  Don’t care). Plus I topped it with some pumpkin seeds, aka pepitas, and cacao nibs for some extra crunchy superfood goodness. Chocolate Pumpkin Spice Superfood Smoothie #SeasonalSmoothieChocolate Pumpkin Spice Superfood Smoothie #SeasonalSmoothie

You could even add the Barney Almond Butter in there for added creaminess and exchange the cacao powder for carob powder which makes a great substitute if you’re sensitive to cocoa/cacao.

It includes the All Natural Vegan Protein Chocolate with Quinoa and Oats, Food Science Superior Greens Superfood, NOW Foods Carob Powder, AND Barney Butter Bare Almond Butter Smooth.  All you have to do to win is enter using the rafflecopter below! Mine is pumpkin and cloves

Reply October 28, 2014

Well, besides the obvious pumpkin and acorn/butternut squash, I always think of the start of hearty food season. Like a good mushroom stroganoff; now THAT's autumn! I also feel like nuts are super fall foods. Ditch the dried pineapple and mix 'em with cranberries and you have a sort-of deconstructed fall treat! MMMF.
