Cool Down Post-Run with Gevalia Iced Coffee

I’m not sure where you live, but even here in the dreary Northeast, this summer has been rough weather wise.  Or maybe it’s always been like this and I just haven’t noticed as much until recently when I started marathon training.  

While I did run during the summer last year, most of my runs were 1) before the sunrise or 2) short enough that I didn’t have to deal with scorching temperatures.  Marathon training changed all of that this year.  Even if I start before the sunrise, my long runs are so long that I’m battling increasing temperatures 2 hours in with an hour or two to go.  

Parched, dehydrated and over heated, the first thing I do to when I walk in the door rest my legs and grab a coffee.  Yes, I said coffee- iced coffee, that is! 
Cool Down Post Run With Gevalia Iced Coffee

I participated in an Ambassador Activation on behalf of Influence Central for Gevalia Iced Coffee with Almond Milk. I received product samples to facilitate my review as well as a promotional item to thank me for my participation.

A month or so back, I was sent Gevalia Iced Coffee with Almond Milk to try and while I am usually a black coffee drinker, I do enjoy a little something extra in my iced coffee.  My favorite way to enjoy iced coffee is after a long, tiresome run on a really hot day. 

Typically when I head out for a run it’s at zero dark thirty.  Seriously, I wake up right around 4:30, grab myself something small to eat, drink my pre-workout, get dressed in my gear and head out the door.  By the time I arrive back home the rest of the world is finally waking up enjoying their coffee.  I can smell it wafting in the air as I drag myself through the door from my run but I have little to no desire to actually drink HOT coffee while I am still sweating after running on a HOT day.

 But I love coffee, I can’t live without it, I drink it every day- post-run is no exception! Not only am I bone tired (must. have. caffeine.) but I also need something cold and icy so an iced coffee it is! 

Gevalia Iced Coffee with Almond Milk

Gevalia Iced Coffee with Almond Milk is a convenient way to feed my caffeine need AND cool down post run.  It comes in three flavors: Vanilla, Caramel and Mocha.  All are lactose free, made with real sugar and contain 9 grams of protein per single serve carton. 

While they are quite delish straight from the carton, my favorite way to enjoy one is by throwing it in a blender with some extra protein powder and a handful of ice cubes!

Gevalia Iced Coffee with Almond Milk

Normally I’d add almond milk with some protein powder and either fresh brewed or instant coffee but Gevalia takes that extra step out of the equation meaning more time to rest, relax and recover! Can’t argue with that 😉
