Dairy Free Ginger Snap Smoothie


Growing up, one of the holiday traditions that took place in my house besides decorating the tree was making cookies.  

Every year my mom would employ the help of my younger sister and I to help her bake literally dozens of cookies.  We’d make snowball cookies, chocolate caramel cookies, thumbprint cookies and of course, ginger snap cookies, my very favorite of all. 

I am not actually a fan of cookies, per se.  This isn’t just an adult thing, I never really have been but I have always enjoyed the taste of ginger snaps.  It probably has more to do with the ginger flavor which I just adore and the deliciousness of the black strap molasses.  The combo of the spice with the hint of sweetness from the molasses is a winning combination in my opinion.  

Actually, the flavors alone aren’t just amazing, both ginger and black strap molasses offer health benefits.  Ginger is known to be an anti-inflammatory and can help ease digestive issues.  While black strap molasses, which has the lowest sugar content of any cane sugar, contains essential vitamins and minerals and can help to strengthen the immune system, treat digestive issues and even relieve menstrual pain.  Cool huh? 

Anyway, with the holidays coming up I decided that I wanted to take a stab at making a ginger snap without all the cookie crumbles so I made it into a smoothie.

 

Dairy Free Ginger Snap Smoothie {gluten free, plant protein smoothie}

Yes, a smoothie.  It’s the perfect way to enjoy all of the health benefits of ginger and molasses without all the fuss of making an actual cookie.

This dairy free smoothie also contains a secret ingredient that gives it that orangey hue and delicious thickness.  Bet ya can’t guess what it is.

If you guessed an orange, you’re wrong.  If you guessed sweet potato then you win! Well, you don’t really win anything but you do get to make this dessert-like smoothie that’s full of immune boosting properties mixed with the dairy free goodness of So Delicious Dairy Free products :) 

Dairy Free Ginger Snap Smoothie


Ingredients: 

Directions: 

  1. Blend all ingredients together except whipped topping.
  2. Pour into a large mason jar and pipe coco whip on top then drizzle more black strap molasses, if desired.
