Dairy Free S’mores Smoothie

I know that we are a few days removed from Halloween but did you know that today is National Candy Day?

Seems strange, right? Today being National Candy Day when you’d think that it would be Halloween when scoring as much candy as possible is the goal.  While I LOVE Halloween, I have to be honest, I’m more about the tricks than I am the treats.

In fact, other than some dark chocolate here and there, I cannot remember the last time I had any real candy.

Growing up, I maybe would nibble on a Twizzler, enjoy a Rolo or two and if I was feeling extra crazy I’d chomp on a handful of Crispy M&M’s.  Do you remember those? Apparently they were re-introduced in the US last year after a 10 year hiatus.  I probably haven’t had those since 1999 though when they were originally released.

Anyway, Crispy M&M’s are neither here nor there.  In fact, this post has very little to do with candy other than being able to put those 1000 Hershey Bars your kids brought home to use as a garnish to my Dairy Free S’mores Smoothie!

I have another confession to make, I am not really a fan of marshmallows either but when I think of chilly fall nights by a bonfire, I crave a s’more or two.  I love the smell of the fire, the glow of the roasting marshmallow and the way that it melts the chocolate just so when you sandwich in between the graham cracker.

Since fall has been a bit of a whirlwind for me this year and I haven’t had the chance to relax by a bonfire, I decided to make my own version in the form of a smoothie.

I considered trying to get all fancy with it but ended up just using a few ingredients that I had on hand and I have to say, that it turned out quite delicious.  The consistency is more of a milkshake than a smoothie but S’mores Smoothie had a better ring to it so I’m sticking with that! 😉
