The Easiest Way to Cut Back on Caffeine and Drink More Water.
If there is one thing I drink too much of, it’s coffee. Not soda, not juice but coffee….okay, and sometimes wine. Being a mom of two sassy sisters, can you blame me?
That being said, all this coffee (and wine) has left me feeling the opposite of energized. Instead, the literal pot of coffee that I gulp down only gives me a burst of energy for a short while then I feel fatigued and SUPER thirsty. Like the kind of thirsty where I feel like I have been trapped in the desert for a week. Side note: I’ve never been trapped in a desert but I imagine that the thirst is real.
Anyway, you get my point. All that being said, it’s not that I don’t drink water. In fact, I LOVE my H2O – it’s just that I drink SO much coffee that the water I drink seems null and void as far as quenching my thirst and more importantly, hydration goes.
To paint the picture my morning usually goes something like this:
- 4:30 AM – ALARM goes off…TIME TO RUN…but first, coffee.
- 4:45 AM – Cup of coffee is brewed and in hand. I *chug* the coffee and take a few *sips* of water.
- 5:00 AM – Time to RUN. Lace up my shoes and grab my handheld with water because I’m THIRSTY.
- 6:00 AM – Run done, time to shower but first, MORE COFFEE.
- 7:00 AM – FINALLY switching over to water for a while.
- 8:00 AM – NEED MORE COFFEE.
- 10:00 AM – Crash and burn and chug water like my life depends on it.
- 12:00 PM until sleep – kick myself for drinking so much coffee and promise to be better about it tomorrow.
As you can see, my coffee to water ratio is no bueno and no matter how hard, motivating myself to wean off the coffee never works.
SO something like Gerolsteiner’s Sparkling Detox Challenge on Facebook is a great way to kick the caffeine consumption habit all while being kept accountable by others and stay motivated with tips and recipes from fitness trainer and nutritionist, Ariane Hundt.
This post is sponsored by Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water in partnership with Fit Approach but as always, all opinions are my own.
As I mentioned in my post about How to Stay Hydrated Like A Boss, Gerolsteiner Sparkling Natural Mineral Water is an awesome way to not only avoid dehydration but also replenish your body with the essential minerals (like calcium and magnesium) it needs.
As far as the challenge goes, it is actually pretty simple. All you have to do is swap out your normal beverages (soda, juice, coffee, alcohol) and drink Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water for a total of 5 days from September 11th to September 15, 2017.
Everyone can participate in the Facebook challenge regardless of fitness level. You can still follow your normal workout routine and eat whatever your diet typically consists of – the only thing you have to do is drink Gerolsteiner Sparkling Mineral Water in place of your regular bevies.
Hop on over to the Sparkling Detox Facebook group to request to join.
