Foodie Friday: Balsamic Pear Nachos

So today our theme is nachos and while I love traditional nachos just as much as the next person, I haven’t really been able to enjoy them like I used to.  Ever since discovering that I am histamine intolerant, I’ve had to cut out a lot of my favorite foods which includes all of the yummy ingredients you’d put on nachos….like tomatoes.

Since I felt it would be just plain wrong to make nachos without tomatoes and all that delicious salsa goodness, I decided to go a different route and make them sweet instead of savory.  Yes, I said sweet nachos….of the sweet balsamic and sliced pear variety. 

 

Balsamic Pear Nachos with Cinnamon Pecan Goat Cheese, Pecans, Pomegranate, and Balsamic Glaze. Gluten Free, Vegetarian, Healthy Snack, Pear Party Recipe} At first I thought I might make apple nachos but they aren’t really my style.  Call me a weirdo but I am not a huge fan of caramel apples or the combo of peanut butter and apples (I know, I said I was weird), so I changed it up a bit and gave the fruit nachos a little bit of a classy upgrade or makeover, if you will. 

These sliced pears are topped with cinnamon pecan chèvre (goat cheese), pomegranate seeds, chopped pecans and a seriously delicious drizzle of balsamic glaze.

The best part about this pear nacho platter is that it’s perfect for a party or even shared as a fancy snack (while you’re sipping some white wine, of course), but it’s super simple to make!

In the time it takes you to slice up a pear, plate and sprinkle with all the yummy goodness, you have a snack that’s fit for a queen…or king….or really hungry person 😉

Ps.  Balsamic and goat cheese technically aren’t low histamine but for the sake of living and creating new recipes, I had to draw the line somewhere!

BALSAMIC PEAR NACHOS 


RECIPE

Ingredients: 

  • 1 Anjou pear, sliced
  • 1/4 cup crumbled cinnamon pecan chèvre 
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans
  • 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds
  • Drizzle of balsamic glaze 

 

Directions:

  1. Plate sliced pears in a circular fashion on a plate. 
  2. Sprinkle cheese, pecans and pomegranate seeds.  
  3. Drizzle with balsamic glaze. 
  4. Serve and enjoy! :)
