Foodie Friday: Grilled Bacon, Brussels Sprouts + Mushroom Kabobs

Grilled Bacon, Brussels Sprouts and Mushroom Kabobs

Today our theme is “Hot Off the Grill” and while normally I would associate that phrase with a juicy steak or chicken or some burgers, today I decided to try something a little different. 

Before today, I can honestly say that I’ve never grilled bacon so I wasn’t exactly sure how it would turn out but, there’s a first for everything, right?! Let me tell you something, bacon is SO much easier to make bacon on the grill.  It doesn’t smoke and gives it a nice, slow cooked crisp. 

You don’t even need to season the mushrooms or Brussels sprouts prior to skewing them because the bacon gives it all the flavor it needs.  This dish is quick to make and a perfect side for a BBQ party or get together.  It’s sure to be a hit… I mean, it’s vegetable wrapped in BACON.  #DELICIOUS. 

BACON, BRUSSELS + MUSHROOM KABOBS 

Grilled Bacon, Brussels Sprouts and Mushrooms Kabobs

RECIPE

Ingredients: 

  • 1 bag of Brussels sprouts, gently steamed
  • 1 package of bacon (gluten, nitrate free) 
  • 1 8oz package of button mushrooms, washed
  • Wooden or metal skewers 

 

Directions: 

  1. Soak wooden skewers if using. 
  2. Heat grill. 
  3. Weave bacon, Brussels sprouts and mushrooms on each skewer. Be careful to be gentle with the mushrooms, as they may break. 
  4. Place on heated grill turning after about 5 minutes. 
  5. Remove and DEVOUR! :)

NOTE: I made about 4 skewers but you can make as many as the amount of your ingredients will allow!
