The Gifts Runners REALLY Want This Holiday Season
There’s this old running adage that “all you need to run is a pair of shoes” and while that’s technically true, anyone who actually runs knows that everything you “need” adds up fast.
There’s running apparel, recovery tools and of course, running gadgets. Of course all of our needs an wants are different which is why I polled a small group of avid runners to see what it is that they REALLY want this holiday season.
Given that my poll included more than 10 people, I’m gonna declare this the official list of what EVERY runner actually wants to find under the tree.

Let’s start with the gadgets first, shall we?
Garmin GPS Watch
Garmin GPS watches are always a popular choice and this brand spankin’ NEW Garmin 35 made the top of the list. Not only does it have smart connectivity but it also allows you to measure your heart rate without a chest strap with it’s wrist based heart rate technology. Price: $199.95
Another popular request was the Fitbit Blaze which has break through features like On-Screen Workouts, PurePulse Heart Rate, smartphone notifications and connected GPS. Price: $199.95
Moving on from runner’s wrist bling, the next most requested item was wireless headphones. Snag this pair of Thriyve Elite xT Sports Wireless Headphones for only $23.88. You can also read my full review here.
Handheld for Water & Fuel.
PSA: You can still get dehydrated in the winter. Keep the H2O flowing and your phone protected from the elements in Fitletic HydraPalm. I have this exact one in pink but I’m kinda diggin’ the white too…I think my wish list just got bigger. Price: $29.95
Running apparel was the next most listed item and for the ladies, a quality running vest topped the list. Currently this Reebok Padded Vest is only $64.99 or for a few more dollars you could go for this Reebok Running Polartec Alpha Vest instead.
I actually own this exactly vest and LOVE it. It’s on sale right now for $89.99 but the good news is that you can save 30% with code SALE30 on BOTH and get FREE SHIPPING!
Side note: If my family and friends are reading you’re welcome to buy me any and all running vests that are on sale 😉
What good is a winter running outfit without tights? Keep your legs warm and comfortable with these Reebok Speedwick Thermal Leggings. They’re on sale for $44.99 but don’t forget you can snag 30% off with code SALE30!
Wool Merino Running Socks.
Don’t forget about the tootsies! Keep them snug and warm on winter runs in these Feetures! Wool Merino running socks. A must-have in cold weather running areas if you ask me [ahem, Central New York I’m looking at you]. Price: $16.99
If you prefer the benefits of compression while you run or for recovery AND want to stay toasty and warm, consider checking out these Sockwell Orbital Socks instead. Price: $24.99
Another hot item on the runner’s wish lists were YakTrax. Again, if you live where it snows buckets in an hour or less, these are a must. Price: $39.99
Don’t forget about the fingers. Keep the digits warm while you work up a sweat with these Reebok Training Winter Gloves. They’re made with fleece for warmth, touchscreen sensitive and have back reflective details for visibility. Bonus, they’re ONLY $26 which is far less expensive than most comparable gloves on the market.
Addaday Massage Roller
Speaking of recovery, give the gift of self massage with this Addaday Type C massage roller. Price: $42.00 Of course you could also be extra generous and give the gift of a massage certificate …throw in a pedicure to scrub away nasty runner’s feet while you’re at it! 😉
Running Inspired Drinkware.
Speaking of runner’s feet, black toenails and this comical coffee mug with a runner’s sense of humor come to mind. If buying apparel, socks and pricey technical gear aren’t you thing then a mug like this from Sarah Marie Design Studio will do just fine. Price: $18.00
Race Entry Fee
Last but not least, paying for your favorite runner’s race entry fee was also mentioned more than once. Bonus if you’re a runner too – make it an epic race-cation and register for a Ragnar Relay or Rock’n’Roll race!
