How to go from the Gym to Happy Hour in Less Than 5 Minutes

While I in no way claim to be a fashionista, I do love to workout and I do love my half price wine…I mean, who doesn’t, right?!

I recognize that I am a mom, no longer fresh into my career and a certainly a few years past my twenties BUT the fact that I AM a mom and have little to no time, gives me that much more experience on how to actually live life on the go.

In fact, if you’re a mom and can afford some time away from the fam, you’re either craving sleep or a seriously big glass of wine whenever and wherever someone will serve it to you.

That being said, even though you might not be able to pull out all the stops and dress to the nines, you still want to smell good and look presentable…doesn’t everyone?

Exactly.  SO, if you too want to be stink free while showing off your kick-butt beautiful self while sipping on some vino, then here are five easy tricks to follow to get you from the gym to the bar (or wherever your favorite watering hole resides) in five minutes or less.

How to go from the gym to happy hour in less than 5 minutes.

1.  ShowerPill

First things first, the sweat has got to go.  While some people might opt for a shower, I personally don’t have time for that not to mention that every minute you waste waiting for the water to get warm is a minute less you’ll be spending sipping on your half-priced cocktail.

The solution? Using a nifty little wipe called the ShowerPill.  This antibacterial thick cloth is alcohol free, paraben free and infused with aloe and vitamin E that works just like a wash cloth to clean your body instantly.

ShowerPill Athletic Wipe

Ever since being introduced to ShowerPill a few years ago while running Ragnar, I use them anytime I get sweaty while on-the-go.  In fact, not only do I keep them stocked at my studio for my clients to use but I also always keep one in my gym bag.

They work like a charm to wipe away all the grime, sweat and salt after a gym workout, run or race so that you can resume lookin’ fly and smellin’ fresh to death! 😉

2. Dry Shampoo

Another way to avoid the shower is dry shampoo.  I literally keep it in my gym/race bag at all times since sudsing up my long locks usually isn’t an option post-workout.

The key to using dry shampoo is making sure you use too much and don’t spray it too close to your scalp.  Hold it about 10 inches away from your roots and make sure to massage it in.

3. Upgrade to a braid

If your hair is really a hot mess then you might want to consider upgrading to a braid.  Within the last year I have begun braiding my hair for my workout which not only keeps it away from my face but also helps minimize the sweat.

Braiding your hair post workout can also be a great way to look like you’re pulled together and keep the “just came from the gym” look to a minimum.  A simple braid works just fine or if you’re feeling fancy you can also give a French braid a try.

Here’s a neat tutorial from my fashionable friend Fitful Focus that shows you how to French braid like a boss

4. Add a jean jacket

If you’re really in a rush then throwing on a jean jacket over a (clean) cute gym tank and leggings is an easy solution that will give you that pulled together look.

Again, I’m no fashionista but in my opinion, jean jackets are timeless and a simple way to “dress” up a casual outfit (or gym wear) and make it look like you have your ish together 😉

5. Accessorize

Last but not least, no happy hour outfit is complete without an accessory or two.  Personally, I am a favorite of fitness inspired jewelry like these wraps from Momentum.

Not only are they cute (and sweat friendly) but they’re also a great way to subtly brag about your hard work at the gym without actually bragging about it.

My beauty routine is dry shampoo and under eye concealer. Before the invention of fancy spray in dry shampoo when I used to sprinkle in baby powder and the blow dry it out.

Aren't you the cutest! I need shower pill. I currently use baby wipes but a) they don't smell good and b) we are at the end of needing to buy them!

Such a great post. I feel like some people put off working out so they won't need to get ready after. Dry shampoo and an easy braid are my favs!

Given the fact that I'm generally always sweaty running around everywhere pre and post classes and running, any and all tips I can get to pull it together are great! ;)

Great tips! I agree on your jean jacket point. You can never go wrong with it! Now, I just need my hair to get longer again so I can get back to doing braids. Until then it's top knots for me :P

I love the outfit! I honestly don't own a jean jacket...I know, what's wrong with me?! I'm in desperate need of a happy hour tonight and I'll be coming from the gym, but I'll need a whole lot of Shower Pill wipes in order to be presentable, lol!
