Off to a Running Start in 2015

Okay, so I know that we are only a month into 2015 but let me just tell you how fabulous it’s been for me so far.  I’m not the type to brag but I seriously just can’t contain all the excitement that has been happening so I’m gonna share it with you and hope to spread some joy!

I really am so FREAKING excited I don’t even know where to start! January pretty much started off as best as a new year could when I got the news about being offered the role as an ambassador for the Ragnar Relay Series Adirondack Market!

Being an ambassador for this super awesome relay race series entails running with clubs, participating and volunteering at local races while sporting Ragnar gear and virtually spreading the word about the Ragnar Adirondacks race!

 In case you’re interested, the two day, overnight relay is taking place this year on September 25th and 26th.  The 200 mile race starts in Saratoga Springs, NY and a team of 12 runners relay their way up to Lake Placid, NY.  Early bird registration is open now up until March 27th when prices increase.  

I ran last year and had an absolute blast! You can check out my recap here if you’ve never participated in one and want to get a better idea of how much fun it really is! I am beyond excited to be acting as an ambassador for this series and can’t wait to share more about Ragnar ADK over the next several months! 

The other piece of exciting news came just this past Friday when I found out that I was also accepted as a Feetures! Ambassdaor! I opened my email midday to find this awesome surprise:

 I am pretty sure I jumped for joy! I applied a few months back because I really do LOVE their socks, especially the Elite Merino+  which are made of wool and perfect for keeping your feet warm and cozy during winter runs. They also just released their new colors for Spring and you better believe I’ll be getting them all.

So bright, so pretty and oh so comfy! I may need to start buying outfits to match my socks instead of the other way around 😉 I might even be nice enough to spread the love with you and host a giveaway in the near future to celebrate- so be on the look out.  My one year blogiversary is coming up in a month – hint, hint

Other exciting news that happened in the last week also included being featured by Ariana in her Inspiring Humans segment on her blog.  Ariana is amazing and inspiring herself so for her to think enough to highlight me really means a lot.   Seriously, I am beyond honored!

I also got to write a guest post on Move It Monday’s blog about How to Reach Your Goals with 5 simple tips.

Oh and I made the Writers Gallery for The Platform Magazine’s February 2015 issue! They featured my Mushroom and Black Bean “Meatballs” Recipe– how awesome is that?!

Then on Saturday, I ended January with my longest long run EVER and it was on the treadmill! 

 January Recap

Yeah, that’s 14 miles all done on the ‘mill because it was -4 degrees outside not including the windchill.  I honestly have grown quite fond of my treadmill so much so that we are kinda like besties now.  I secretly like the fact that I can keep warm and have mindless TV shows to entertain me- stupid, trashy shows that I would never watch otherwise and I love it.

Those 14 miles also brought my total January mileage to 110 which ties September for my highest mileage month EVER! If I keep my mileage steady, I will be on track to break 1,000 miles this year- which would be approximately 400 more than last year.  BOOM! 

All that being said, I am thrilled with how the first month of the new year kicked off and if all this good news is a precursor to how the rest of the year is going to go then 2015 is going to be seriously fantastic!
