Super Easy Mini Mocha Recovery Muffins {Paleo, Dairy Free}

Every once in a while I get in the mood for a muffin.  I’m not really a fan of them in general – like I would never order a muffin at a bakery but I do enjoy a yummy homemade muffin. 

A while back when I started blogging, I decided to mess around with different gluten free muffin recipes.  Over the years I have made Paleo Blueberry Muffins, Mimosa Muffins, Zesty Margarita Muffins, Paleo Maple-Bourbon & Bacon Breakfast Muffins and Easy & Delicious Paleo Gingerbread Muffins just to name a few.  

I’ve also made different little recovery muffin bites like No Bake Carrot Cake Bites and Paleo No Bake Tiramisu Bites

This mocha version is a mix between the two.  They’re mini muffins and they’re super easy to make! 

Mini Mocha Recovery Muffins {Paleo, Gluten Free, Grain Free, Dairy Free}

These Mini Mocha Recovery Muffins aren’t you’re typical bakery treat.  They only require just a few ingredients which are specifically chosen to help you recover quicker after an intense run or workout. 

Besides being packed with plant protein, which is helps to feel the muscle, they’re also made with turmeric which is said to be an anti-inflammatory and cacao powder which is also said to help speed recovery. 

You can enjoy them hot straight out of the oven but honestly, I prefer to freeze them and then grab one as a cool treat after a hard workout.  Not only do they taste kinda like fudge that way but they also are super refreshing when you’re all sorts of sweaty!

Mini Mocha Recovery Muffins


  • 1 cup chocolate almond butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp coffee extract
  • 1 20g scoop cappuccino or  protein powder
  • 1 tbsp cacao powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/4 cup vegan chocolate chips (I used Enjoy Life)
  • Melted chocolate chips to drizzle, if desired.

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  2. Whisk together butter, eggs and extract until combined.
  3. Add in protein, cacao, turmeric and baking powder and salt.
  4. Fold in chocolate chips.
  5. Roll into balls then flatten into greased mini muffin pan (will be sticky, that’s okay).
  6. Bake for approximately 9 mins.
  7. Drizzle on chocolate, if desired (totally optional)
  8. Remove and let cool.

Makes 15-18 mini muffins.
