Sweet & Spicy Buffalo Wing Popcorn

I’ve said it before and I will say it again.  I love football.  I love everything about all the things that go along with it; the cheering, the yelling, the relaxing and of course, the food.

Typically, we will make a big meal (usually with the help of the crockpot) as well as whip up some healthy snacks to share like Honey & Seat Salt Roasted Almonds, Mushroom & Black Bean “Meatballs” and even Buffalo Cauliflower Bites.

In fact, I shared my easy vegan recipe for the Buffalo Cauliflower Bites not too long ago which got me thinking…why not make a Buffalo Wing flavored popcorn?!

Satisfy your game day cravings with this crowd pleasing Sweet and Spicy Buffalo Wing Popcorn! Not only is it easy to make but it's healthy too!

My husband is a HUGE fan of popcorn and makes it ALL the time (not just for game day) and I’ve actually shared a few flavor variations of his popcorn before including my Honey Salted Popcorn recipe made with Nektar Naturals Honey Crystals.

The combination of salty and sweet is AMAZING and honestly the perfect snack to satisfy any kinda craving…it’s crunchy, it’s salty, it’s sweet not to mention that it’s super healthy for you.

Speaking of Nektar Naturals Honey Crystals, they are also what I used to make this Sweet & Spicy Buffalo Wing Popcorn.  Just like the sweetness of the honey crystals helps to compliment the sea salt of the popcorn in my previous recipe, the Nektar Naturals add a hint of sweet to everybody’s favorite football flavor, Buffalo wing sauce!

What I love most about using the honey crystals for this recipe is that you just sprinkle them on like salt before you bake the popcorn (yes, you bake in the flavors) which means that you don’t have to deal with melting down anything or dealing with any sticky mess.

It truly is perfect for game day and while I do love the idea of making things in a big bunch to munch on later, this particular popcorn recipe is best served hot and fresh out of the oven.

Don’t worry, I am sure the biggest issue you’ll have when you serve it is finding the will power to share 😉

Sweet & Spicy Buffalo Wing Popcorn

  • 8 cups of plain popcorn
  • 1/4 cup Frank’s Red Hot
  • 3 tbsp dairy free butter (or regular butter, if desired)
  • 3 tbsp Nektar Naturals Honey Crystals
  • 1 tsp sea salt

  1. Preheat oven to 300 degrees.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together hot sauce and butter.
  3. In a large bowl, coat popcorn with mixture then even toss in honey crystals and sea salt.
  4. Spread evenly on baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for approximately 10 minutes.
  5. Remove and transfer to a large serve bowl.
  6. Enjoy immediately.
