As you all probably know by now, I am a functional fitness fanatic and have acquired quite the collection of “fitness tools” over the years for my home gym. While some of it has been purchased by me, I have also been gifted a lot of the equipment on various holidays. Since I often get asked what to buy and where, I figured that it’s the perfect time of year to list all my favorite things and make it into a gift guide!

Let’s get my obvious suggestion out of the way, shall we? It’s no surprise that if I had to recommend any one of these functional training tools as a gift for the functional fitness fanatic/enthusiast, it would the the Ultimate Sandbag.
It’s probably the most VERSATILE piece of fitness equipment I own. It’s fun, it’s portable and most importantly it’s effective. I could go on for a while about it or you could just read my post about WHY I love DVRT (Dynamic Variable Resistance Training) and the Ultimate Sandbag and all of it’s amazing benefits.
Prices range from $70-$160 per bag depending on the size of the bag and if there is a sale going on. Ps. There is currently a sale going on right now! 😉
Next up? A kettlebell, of course! If your functional fitness loving friend doesn’t already have a kettlebell at home I can guarantee it’s on their wishlist. Another extremely versatile fitness tool that’s also fun and effective.
Give the gift of iron by purchasing one here. Prices also vary depending on the weight.
Another fav of mine that I don’t get to spend nearly enough time with is my beloved battle ropes. While they require a little more room than the previously mentioned tools, if your functional fitness fanatic happens to train outdoors, in a garage or basement then you can go wrong with battling ropes.
They typically sell for around $200 depending on length and width of the rope. Perform Better sells quality battle ropes and are currently having a holiday sale- woohoo!
Another rope that I love is of the jumping variety! Crossropes takes jump ropes to the next level with their interchangeable handle options that are precision bearing, designed to protect the joints.
The ropes also come weighted too which really challenges your muscles making jumping rope just that much more intense. I have the Burn Set system featured, it’s a lot of fun and definitely worth the $70 price tag!
And of course, a functional fitness fanatic also needs a TRX Suspension System for their home gym!
Quick to set up and take with you anywhere making it easy to build strength and improve flexibility. Really any fitness lover who workouts from home would appreciate this gift. System typically sells for around $199.00.
Last but certainly not least on my list of equipment are the Lebert Equalizers!
These were one of the first purchases I made after my sandbag and kettlebells for my home gym. The Equalizers are extremely versatile and great for bodyweight and cardiovascular training as well as stretching. While they are shown here in black (the XL version) they also come in pink, lime green and the original yellow! They sell for around $110 but you can take an extra $20 off when you use the code ALLF20 and purchase them through my link here.
Not looking to spend that much on your functional fitness fanatic? That’s okay! I’ve got you covered here with some less expensive items that would be perfect for your co-worker, friend or even as a stocking stuffer!
If you had to ask me one item that I just couldn’t live without when it comes to any kind of workout it would probably be my Gymboss. Since I do a lot of HIIT workouts, I am constantly in need of mine.
Actually, I have three. One for each of my dedicated workout spots so I am never without and for just $20, they’d make a great little gift for any fitness fan in your life.
Another item I can’t live without? My Mio Global heart rate monitor and tracker.
It’s a strapless heart rate watch that uses optical technology to read your heart rate. I literally live in it. While I do have the ALPHA and the LINK, the one pictured is the FUSE, you can read my review on the Mio FUSE here. If you are interested in purchasing I do have a code that can save 25%, just shoot me an email or let me know in the comments!
One last item that would make an excellent gift for any fitness fanatic on your list is a new to me product called Beardy Balm from The Beardy Apothecary!
This stuff is ah-mazing. It’s all natural, hand crafted petroleum-free balm that literally is the cure for anything from dry hands to calluses. Comes in handy (pun intended) for anyone who does a lot of training with kettlebells, pull-up bars or just is in need of some repair! Sells for $7 for .5oz or $18 for 1.5 oz tin.
So that’s all folks…for now at least. My list could have been a lot longer if I wanted to get into more gear and accessories but I’ll save that for another day! This will get you started in the meantime, happy shopping!
