Things Worth Mentioning Thursday: KOOEE Snacks Review + Finishers Swag

KOEE Super SnackI recently had the opportunity to try out KOOEE Super Snacks, a 100%  gluten, dairy and soy free and paleo friendly jerky trail mix snack! Not only is it packed with protein but the beef is 100% grass-fed not to mention seriously delicious!

KOOEE Super Snacks Each of their jerky trail mix flavors is a combination of grass-fed beef jerky, dried fruits, nuts, seeds and superfoods without all the sugar and preservatives.  Oh, and the beef is both hormone and antibiotic free and raised is Australia.  You can even trace the beef used in every package directly back to its source.  Super cool, right? 

The jerky currently comes in two different flavors; Smoked Chipotle with Apple and Lime Pepper with Mango.  I was sent samples of both to try and I have to say, they are both equally as satisfying and delicious. 

The first flavor I tried was the Smoked Chipotle with Apple. I opened the unique RIP, PEEL & MIX package for an afternoon snack and immediately devoured nearly the entire bag.  OKAY, maybe not the entire bag, my kids did eat most of the apples 😉 We did save a small handful for my husband when he got home from work and his immediate reaction was “Is there more?“.KOOEE Snacks I know it’s hard to tell how good something tastes from a picture but it is a pretty good snapshot of all the deliciousness the Smoked Chipotle with Apple contains.  Aside from the grass-fed beef and apple, this mix contains walnuts, almonds, pecans, pumpkin seeds sunflower seeds and my favorite superfood, cacao nibs.  The combo of the chipotle flavor with the bite of the cacao nibs is crazy amazing

KOOEE’s other flavor is Lime Pepper with Mango and is as equally amazing! I actually chowed down on this entire mix on my way down to #FitBlogNYC.  I had intended to just snack on it but I got stuck in traffic for over and an hour and was SO HUNGRY!  Thank the Lord that I brought this with me because it was the perfect source of protein and superfood goodness to keep me from dying of starvation. KOOEE Super SnackThe lime flavored jerky along with the mangoes, almonds, cashews, pecans, sunflower seeds and goji berries not only tasted great but satisfied my hunger craving and stopped me from getting seriously hangry behind the wheel.  Believe me, I am a bad enough driver as it is, you DO NOT want me to be hangry while driving. 

Aside from being perfect for when you’re trapped in the car while starving, these jerky trail mixes are also wonderful post workout or while out on a hike.  KOOEE Super Snacks was actually created by the founder, Shaun, to fuel to keep him fueled while hiking through Australia. They are now a Kickstarter campaign which I am happily and enthusiastically a backer of!

In other news worth mentioning on this Thursday, I recently won a pretty awesome prize pack.  Almost two weeks ago I ran the #VegRunChat Virtual Half Marathon and guess what? I was the top female finisher for the race!  I was a little astounded when I got the news and I know it is only a virtual race but I am still going to let it count for something.  Plus, they sent me all this super awesome swag.#VegRunChat SwagPrizes included #VegRunChat tattoos and stickers, ENERGYbits, Bearded Brothers and EcoTrek Bars, Lace Lockers (I already own a pair & LOVE them, these little lady bugs will be perfect for my 3 yo), and a comfy Gladsoles Sandals t-shirt! Pretty cool, huh? I will most certainly be participating in their next virtual run though I am 100% the odds of me placing 1st again are slim to none 😛
