Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer Review- Fuel Your Better


As part of my relationship with Fit Approach I was given the opportunity to review Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer for their Fuel Your Better Campaign.  While the product was sent to me to try, as always, the review and opinions are my own.

 When I found out I was going to have the opportunity to try out and review a product from the Vega Sport line, I was really excited.  I was actually given a choice of what I would prefer and I didn’t hesitate to pick the Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer.  

I have always been curious about trying a pre-workout  supplement because I strength train at least 3 days a week, do high intensity conditioning workouts at least two and have also been running.  Also, just to be clear, I have never tried any other pre-workout supplement because most of them contain nasty ingredients and from what I hear, leave you with a jittery hang-over feeling.  Something I did NOT feel was worth dealing with for a small surge of energy.  I have never had a problem motivating myself either so I didn’t think it was necessary.  However, when I saw the natural, clean and plant based performance improving ingredients in Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer, I really wanted to test it out.  

The Energizer contains ingredients like green tea, yerba mate, coconut oil and rhodiola which are all designed to improve immediate and sustained energy, enhance mental focus and increase endurance.  It also contains complex carbohydrates that are meant to provide both instant and slow burning fuel so you don’t spike or crash.  Plus it is dairy, soy and gluten free.  It all looked and sounded too good to be true so I put it to the test….several times.

I was sent the Acai Berry flavor to try – they make a Lemon Lime flavor as well.  I’m not really a citrus person so I was excited that I was sent a flavor that I knew I would probably enjoy.  

One of the first times I tried it was before an early morning run.  As instructed, I mixed the packet with 1 cup of water about 20 minutes before I stepped out the door.  I was pleasantly surprised with the flavor and I did not find it to be gritty or too sweet even though there are 12 grams of sugar.  I really don’t tolerate sugar well but since these aren’t of the artificial variety and actually serve the purpose of providing energy, it didn’t bother me. 

And this is how the run went (never mind that whole hump day comment, clearly it was a Wednesday):

Best pace time I have ever had for that distance.  And there were hills! I felt alive, energized and there was no strange hang over feeling from it.  I couldn’t help but think “so this is what pre-workout is all about!”.  As happy as I was with my time and how I felt, I wanted to make sure that it wasn’t a fluke or just a great runner’s high.  So I tried it again before a variety of different workouts: a conditioning workout, a strength training session, a stroller run, and this intense boot-camp style workout.

I have to be honest, I was REALLY TIRED beforehand and was wondering how I was going to give it 100%. I did though and I could feel my energy levels actually increasing…it was crazy! I am not even exaggerating, I was dead tired and the boost of energy I felt from this was like magic.  Let’s be honest here, I’m a mom of two young children so I felt like I had discovered some sort of mythical energy fountain.  I was SOLD and now I knew what they meant by fuel your better.

There IS actually a better way to fuel the way you workout and this is it. I am not one to buy into all the supplements and I am very picky so when I find something that works and is made of clean ingredients, I feel like I hit the lotto.  Plus this beats drinking coffee as a pre-workout which I would crash from and also suffer from dehydration.  Don’t get me wrong though-I am not giving up coffee, just using a better source for my pre-workout energy.

In fact, I am so sold that when I got down to my last two packets they sent I had a minor freak out (I didn’t want to be without my magical fountain of energy), so I immediately ordered the largest quantity I could find to ensure that I wouldn’t run out anytime soon.   Vega Sport also makes a variety of other products to fuel your better which I would be really interested in checking out as well.  After being so satisfied with the Vega Sport Pre-Workout Energizer, I think it’s safe to say I probably wouldn’t be disappointed!
