As most of you know, the last few weeks I have been participating in a strength training trial program.  So far it has been going really well and while I haven’t been running as much, I am feeling stronger!

The program has really been focusing on upper and lower body strength and even introduced me to the barbell last week.  I am not going to lie, it is kind of intimidating but I signed up for this trial group with the intention of growing (literally, in the muscular sense) and expanding my horizons into other realms of fitness that I am not as familiar with. By the end of this, I hope to see some sort of transformation and strengthen some of my weaknesses.

AKA….my terrible attempt at double unders….I can only do 8 in a row right now :(

Like I said before, I have been focusing more on strength training but we have at least one day a week that is focused on applied fitness which is when I usually fit my runs in aside from my runs on the weekend.

Even though I’m not really in full on training mode, I have been prepping for the Mountain Goat 10 miler the past few weeks by attending some training runs that go along the course.  Unfortunately, I had to miss this past Saturday due to being super sick with a stupid sinus infection so I was happy to get in this awesome run yesterday!

Hoping I will be prepared for the Mountain Goat….it is my first year ever running it and it is literally an UP HILL CLIMB, TWICE.

The temps are supposed to be in the low 60’s and the sun will be shining.  I am honestly hoping for a light breeze or I might die.  I don’t do well with any sort of heat….not that I am complaining about 60 degree weather but lord help me if it gets any warmer than that, haha!

Assuming I don’t die, I also have the Miles for Meals 5K scheduled the following weekend.

I actually ran it last year too but they have moved the race just down the road to an easier to find location at Long Branch Park.  The man in the banana suit assured me that this year things would go a little smoother and even personally invited me to attend.

He apparently remembered me accosting him for a photo opp last year….and his name is Devin, not Mr. Banana Man come to find out.  He is very nice and really wants this year to be a success.  Proceeds from the race to go the Food Bank of CNY so if you’re local and want to run a race with a super flat course (aka PR) then please consider signing up
